What is an au pair?
- You are a girl or boy aged between 18 and 30 years old, single, without children.
- You are a native English speaker (or French, German, Chinese, to teach your native language).
- You are interested in language and culture of the country.
- You live with a host family for a defined period of time (between 1 month and 1 year) and help with childcare and daily family tasks.
- You speak your native language with the children.
- You receive a weekly pay (See “Au pair Programmes” for different options).
- You are available to babysit a night per week.
- You have a timetable and you have free time and free days to assist language courses and/or leisure time (See “Au pair Programmes” for different options).
- In order to reach a cultural exchange, and be confortable you will be integrated to the family as another member. You will never be considered as “domestic help”.
- All details (daily tasks, childcaring times, weekly salary, etc.) are written in an agreement between au pair and family. Cangur4you assesses and writes it.
Besides to what has been said above, we look for people with friendly, cooperative, active and flexible attitude. Also willing to:
- Collaborate on the daily family functioning.
- Take care of children and try to get a good relationship with them.
- Provide a minimum of two recommendation letters, better related to child care.
- Have no criminal record.
- Provide a medical document stating he/she is in good health.
- Have a passport from an EEA country or a Visa that allow them to stay in Spain.
- Have medical cover, by national social security legislation, through the European Health Insurance Card (for EU citizens) or by private medical insurance to be arranged by the au pair (required for non-EU citizens).
- Pay their travel, language courses and personal expenses.
